Dexter Gordon: ‘Round Midnight 30 Years Back
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 30 years since Bertrand Tavernier’s ’Round Midnight was made. In the summer of 1986, mostly in Paris. Maxine Gordon remembers many of the warmer, nicer moments in the filming (there were plenty of dark moments as well). What’s hard to believe is that just 30 years later, Dexter, Billy Higgins, Freddie Hubbard, Tony Williams, Cedar Walton and, now, Bobby Hutcherson have all passed on.
